The Shetland Story

The remote, natural beauty of the Shetland Islands is home to rare sheep that roam and graze on wild heather clad hills.  Shetland Wool has a unique international reputation which bestows the story of it's beautiful landscape and the many generations of working crofters.

However, this way of life has come under threat from the misuse and abuse of the Shetland name.  As a result, the Real Shetland Wool Awareness Campaign is now underway which is supported by both the Shetland Islands Council and The British Wool Marketing Board.  The aim of this programme along with the sale of these beautiful throws is to promote Shetland Wool and to help save the Shetland way of life.

We have a number of limited edition colours currently in production which will not be repeated.  Each throw comes with a hand signed card from the crofter (someone who cares for the sheep and collects the wool) which recapitulates the heart warming Shetland story.  These are supplied by the company who buys virtually the entire Shetland clip and we can assure you there is no one else making REAL Shetland travel rugs like these.
